Our sessions will be a combination of instruction, discussion, and focused writing time. When we wrap up our work together, you’ll have a solid first draft and a clear path to completion, all before the busiest part of college application season gets underway. We will focus our discussions on the 650-word Common App essay, which most college applicants submit. This approach can be applied to college-specific essays, scholarship applications, and other opportunities. You’ll have the opportunity to revise in between our sessions. If you feel ready to share your draft after the second session, you’ll receive written feedback that we can discuss and work through together in the third session. Class ID: 9010. Arches Watercolor Block (a stack of bound paper) smooth or rough, your choice, 16 x 20” 2. 1 tube each Pyrol Red, Lemon Yellow, Prussian Blue, Burnt Sienna 3. 1 tube manganese Blue, (if you like to paint landscape, especially) and 4. Quinacridone Red (or another deep pinkish color) 5. A few round watercolor brushes -not the cheapest, not most expensive, the larger, the better 6. Spray bottle 7. Palette of your choosing 8. Water container (ball jar or big cottage cheese-type container Alternatively, several of the students have Schmenke watercolor sets…take a look, can be expensive, but if you like them, lots of color possibilities. The more expensive the watercolor brand, the better the paints, in general. The cheap stuff will be disappointing.Fall 2026 -
