Sixth grade cross country is for students who enjoy running or anyone new wanting to try the sport in a positive team environment. Would you like to improve your drawing skills? Learning how to draw using basic fundamentals can set you on a path to drawing better and developing faster. Drawing using basic shapes, you build your subject from the inside out! Create more dynamic illustrations using perspective drawing techniques and shadowing to create depth. This class also explores using different mediums (Pen & Ink, Colored pencils, Watercolor Washes, and Markers) to finish up your illustrations. All supplies are included! This class teaches basic fundamentals early and can set your child on a path to developing their talent faster. We teach students to see and draw the basic shapes within a subject, then build it from the inside out. Learn how to shadow to create depth, and create more dynamic pictures with perspective drawing. Come experience the unique sport of baton twirling, combining athleticism and art! Students will learn basics twirling skills, marching and bodywork. This ongoing class is for beginner and intermediate painters. We will learn about materials, color mixing, values and layering. If you’ve had some experience with watercolors, we explore a variety of wet and dry brush techniques through demonstrations and hands-on teaching. Tryouts for grades 4th-8th boys travel basketball will take place in mid-September with the season running November through March. Tryouts for grades 7-8 will be on the same day, but with their season running January through March. The tryout date will be updated here once it's available. 7th and 8th grade boys do not start their season until January due to the middle school season. Tryouts will be at the Saline Middle School Gym. Registration for tryouts is required. There is no fee for tryouts. There is no makeup tryout. The purpose of the Community Education Volleyball League is to provide students with an opportunity to learn and develop volleyball skills, play games in an organized setting, understand good sportsmanship and teamwork, and have fun! We will be joining an outside league - the Tecumseh Youth Volleyball league. Practices will take place ONCE A WEEK on Tuesdays OR Thursdays at a Saline school but games will be played at Tecumseh High School where we will compete against other schools in the league. Teams that are a part of the league are Tecumseh, Onsted, Hudson, and Chelsea. A game schedule will be shared by the league. This league is designed for both beginning and experienced players, and no previous volleyball experience is required. This league is open to all girls in grades 3-4 and 5-6 and boys in grades 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8. And will run 6 weeks of practices and 6 weeks of games. Beginning the week of September 7, practices will be held once a week on weekdays (practices will be scheduled on Tuesdays or Thursdays) and will run for an hour. Practice times and locations may vary from team to team. Games will be scheduled on Sundays beginning September 13 and run until October 18. Players need a jersey to participate in this league. In Essay Coaching’s three-part in-person workshop, you’ll gain the skills you need to write an authentic, memorable personal essay—and you’ll have the time and space to get started. Our sessions will be a combination of instruction, discussion, and focused writing time. When we wrap up our work together, you’ll have a solid first draft and a clear path to completion, all before the busiest part of college application season gets underway. We will focus our discussions on the 650-word Common App essay, which most college applicants submit. Continuing in the tradition of building community through watercolor, Valerie Mann is the instructor for what was Watercolors With Taylor Jacobsen. Mann continues with a welcoming atmosphere for beginning and experienced painters along with individualized instruction and demos. She will cover basic and advanced techniques in transparent watercolor. Beginners will get specific exercises to practice techniques. Students should bring an array of reference photos.
