8th Grade Jazz Band

8th Grade Jazz Band is open to all 8th grade students enrolled in curricular band, orchestra, or choir. Students will expand upon their knowledge of the jazz world by engaging in more challenging repertoire of various styles including swing, rock, funk, and Latin. Students will deepen their knowledge of improvisation through soloing over a 12 bar blues and in their concert music. Any band instrument is welcome. We also need rhythm section instruments that include the drum set, guitar, bass, and piano. If you are interested in these instruments, you will sign up in the band room for a very brief audition.
