7th Grade Jazz Band is open to all middle school students enrolled in curricular band, orchestra, or choir. Students will be introduced to the world of jazz through different styles of music including swing, rock, and Latin. Students will learn the basics of improvisation and the 12 bar blues. Any band instrument is welcome. We also need drum set, guitar, bass, and piano. If you are interested in any of these instruments, you will sign up for a very brief audition in the band room. 8th Grade Jazz Band is open to all 8th grade students enrolled in curricular band, orchestra, or choir. Students will expand upon their knowledge of the jazz world by engaging in more challenging repertoire of various styles including swing, rock, funk, and Latin. Students will deepen their knowledge of improvisation through soloing over a 12 bar blues and in their concert music. Any band instrument is welcome. We also need rhythm section instruments that include the drum set, guitar, bass, and piano. If you are interested in these instruments, you will sign up in the band room for a very brief audition.
